Med-Genisys™ - The Medical Genetics Information System (MedGenisysÒ ) was instituted to give researchers, genomic and pharmaceutical companies access to normal and diseased tissues, body fluids and organs. MedGenisys has acquired the ability to access more than 360,000 patients from medical groups and other medical institutions in the United States. The objective of the program is to work with physicians and others to acquire tissue samples and body fluids from healthy patients and those presenting with chronic and genetic diseases. MedGenisys has implemented the required legal protection for protecting patients and other donors participating in this program. Researchers can request tissue and body fluid samples based upon their desired protocol and are assured that the samples were obtained legally and ethically. All samples obtained have vested with the providing entity an Informed Consent approved by the institutional review board to which the medical institution, physician practice group or other procurement organizations affiliated. Additionally, the researcher can request a medical history of the patient that will accompany the sample without revealing any patient identifiers or descriptors.
